The Motorola Defy+ is the Motorola rugged Android-powered smartphone that introduced on the same day with the announced about the company’s to be acquired by Google. Being the successor of the original Defy, the Defy+ will come out with 1GHz processor, 1,700 mAh battery, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, 5MP autofocus camera, 2GB of on-board memory, and MicroSD card support, runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and gets IP67 certified, which is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Xcover. Samsung recently officially introduced the Galaxy Xcover, the company’s first rugged smartphone on their Galaxy line-up that runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and its dust-proof, scratch-proof, impact-resistant, and water-resistant, earning it the IP67 durability. The Galaxy Xcover also will features a 3.2MP camera with LED flash, a 3.6 inch display of unknown resolution (HVGA maybe) and will support HSDPA 7.2Mbps, including Wi-Fi connectivity. No idea on pricing, but the handset should become available starting October.

Research in Motion (or RIM) has just announced their new smartphone, the BlackBerry Torch 9850 / 9860 and BlackBerry Torch 9810. Both of smartphones runs OS 7 and expect to available worldwide starting later this month. Regarding specs, the BlackBerry Torch 9850 / 9860 will come out with a 3.7 inch touchscreen WVGA, 1.2GHz single-core processor, 768MB of RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, BlackBerry Maps, 5MP camera with flash and 720p video recording, 4GB of internal memory but equips MicroSD card for expansion. The only differences is that the Torch 9850 support GSM / HSDPA network, while the Torch 9860 is a CDMA device.
